Our Leadership

Some aging adults are fortunate to have strong, local support from their immediate family. In these situations, there are many reasons why families are choosing to appoint a professional power of attorney – an unbiased third party to support their aging loved one. In this way, burden on the family is relieved and conflicts can be avoided, enabling quality time.

As more older adults experience aging without traditional family support, there is an increasing need to outsource critical roles such as agent under the authority of a financial power of attorney. If you find yourself to be child-free, single, widowed, or never married later in life, professional services like ours can fill the roles otherwise occupied by extended family members.

Silverstone can be a trusted and powerful partner for aging adults in any situation.

Jennifer Szakaly, MA, CMC, NMG
Co-Founder, Strategic Partner, & National Master Guardian

Jennifer attended UNC-Charlotte and earned her Master of Arts in Gerontology in 2002.

Following her work for various for-profit and non-profit organizations in the aging industry, she opened Caregiving Corner in 2005. Caregiving Corner, a care management agency with over 20 years of experience, partners with Silverstone to enable older adults to age well. Jennifer also co-founded and co-owns Care Cottages of NC, a growing network of boutique homes that provide an upscale environment where seniors can age in residential settings characterized by high-quality care and attention to detail with a personal touch.

Jennifer became nationally certified as a care manager in 2008 and nationally certified as a guardian in 2018. In 2023, Jennifer obtained her National Master Guardian designation, held by fewer than 100 guardians nationwide.

Jennifer previously served as President of the Southeast Chapter of the Aging Life Care Association and has also served as a Board Member for the North Carolina Guardianship Association. Currently, Jennifer serves as Board Member for the Aging Life Care Association. Jennifer is a proud Fellow of the Leadership Academy of the Aging Life Care Association, the highest designation achievable in this profession.

More important than her professional accomplishments are the qualities of compassion, integrity, and resourcefulness that equip her with the skills to help families through the most difficult caregiving challenges.

As co-owner of Silverstone, Jennifer is delighted to address a gap that has existed in this industry for quite some time – the lack of professional options for aging adults who need to use the services of a fiduciary rather than a family member or friend.
